Criteria for Branch Libraries which will be given additional computers

In the next few months, new computers will be acquired. In order to be equitable in the assignment of these computers in the branches, the library made a criteria in selecting which branches will receive the computers. These are the following:

1. Internet connected.

How about the branches that does not internet connection? As of now budget for internet connection is already saturated, we encourage that you push your barangays to provide for your internet connection. These are Barangays Horseshoe, Galas, Payatas, and Bagumbayan.

2. On time reporting of computer use.

Computer use is being monitored to 14 branches and Main Library. This is being done via their statistics form that is updated via the Google Docs. Librarians and their assistants must ensure that. Statistics for the day should be in the same day. If the form will be updated the following day, it will be marked red.

You must still use the logbook form. The data that you input in your Google Docs will be counterchecked with the logbook form.

3. High percentage of use of computers.

We will be adding another column in the Google Docs: Percent of use of computer. We will divide total number of users for the day versus number of computers for public use multiplied by 8 hours. You need NOT compute and fill up this column, it will be automatic.

If in case that your computer will be unusable or broken, you must exert effort to avoid that situation and report to respective/ assigned technical people for your district. If your percentage will decrease because the computer is unusable, it will be beyond our control. It is your responsibility that the computers are always in good shape and problems are solved in the shortest possible time.

4. Promotes use of library database.

All our trial and free database are bookmarked in the web browsers of branch computers. The column previously labeled as CD-ROMs are now labeled as database.

Your statistics in this area will be checked via your logbook form and via a computer monitoring system so please be accurate in providing data in your Google Docs. The computer monitoring system knows what sites that is being visited and number of times it was visited.

If you will be able to do all criteria mentioned above accurately and religiously, you will be on top of the list. Branches that will not be able to comply will not receive any computer will recommend actions to correct the lapses.
